Important Sources

I have used many different sources, the most important ones are:

The first printed statement describing the Knabstrupper origin, which was printed in 1855 in “Tidsskrift for Veterinærer” (ventinary magazine). In this article, Willars Lunn described the origin of the Knabstruppers and gave a status for Knabstrup as of 1. January 1855. The article was published later that same year as a separate small book with the title: ”Information about the Knabstrup Stud Farm and its Origin”.

Veterinary Richard Jensen’s book from 1892 – ”The Knabstrup Horse, the Baarup Horse, the Løvenborg Horse”. My description of the breeding work up till 1892 is based on this book (as it is very precisely described.  After this, not very many sources describe the breeding work over the following years).

Stud books, old and more recent ones.

Articles

The protocol for “The Association for the Advancement of Knabstrupper Breeding in Holbæk County”, which is also the first protocol for the Danish Knabstrupper Association.
